I noticed that the guy who got off at the stop before mine had left his books on the bus. It consisted of two journals and a hardcover copy of The Odyssey. Luckily, he had written his phone number on the front page of one of the journals. I gave him a call and he picked up the books a couple of days ago. He insisted I accept a reward check despite my protests. After he had left, I unfolded it and was quite shocked. Forty-five dollars! I expected five, maybe ten. He was really happy I returned the books to him, they were apparently very important to him. In the ‘for’ field on the check, he wrote “for being a good guy.” I’m still not sure if I should cash it ‘though.
